Jewish soldiers 1946-1950

In late 1945, the first people left for the Netherlands to recover after the Japanese occupation. There were some Jews among them. The Dutch government was determined to return them to the archipelago and rebuild the colony as soon as possible. At first, the Netherlands tried to reassert its colonial authority through negotiations and two so-called police actions. Under international pressure, the Netherlands finally transferred sovereignty to Indonesia in 1949
